The Emergence of University–Private Firm Research and Development Agreements
Due to declining governmental funding for basic science, public-private research partnerships have
played an increasingly important role in supporting innovative university research and development. This
article presents an assessment of the changing research and development landscape and the role of such
partnerships to empower universities in promoting economic growth.
